In memoriam Harper Lee

She was a great writer and Truman Capote’s loyal, lifelong friend. Superbly written, “To Kill a Mockingbird” will endure as a literary, political, and moral watershed. Two sentences from that masterpiece capture Harper Lee’s philosophy: “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”
